The Village would like to inform all West Jefferson residents of a recently passed Ordinance 24-043 on June 17th, 2024. The ordinance prohibits discharge, ignition or exploding of fireworks, as defined by ORC. 3743.01, except for the following dates and times:
The first day of January each year, from 12 am to 1 am and again from 4 pm to 1 pm;
Chinese new year's day, from 4 pm to 11 pm;
The Fifth day of May, from 4 pm to 11 pm;
The last Monday in May, and the Saturday and Sunday immediately preceding that day, from 4 pm to 11 pm;
The nineteenth day of June, from 4 pm to 11 pm;
The third, fourth and fifth days of July, from 4 pm to 11 pm;
The first Monday in September, and the Saturday and Sunday immediately preceding that day, from 4 pm to 11 pm;
Diwali, from 4 pm to 11 pm;
The thirty-first day of December, from 4 pm to 12 am.
In the chance of inclement weather on July 4th, The Mayor may choose to allow the Villages discharge, ignition or exploding of fireworks to occur on a date of the following weekend as a replacement date. This information would be supplied to the residents of the Village by the Village website and the Village electrical information sign.
