Mayor's Message October 2023

I hope everyone has had the opportunity to enjoy this beautiful fall weather, and watch some terrific West Jefferson High School Football! Our guys are having an awesome, undefeated season as I write this. Don’t miss our other great athletes either. Soccer and volleyball are still in action, and basketball is just around the corner. Go Roughriders! October has our biggest single Village event of the year, the Fall Fest. This year we are bringing back the apple cider slushies and all the other delicious food, and the Haunted House and Hay Ride will have two themes, “Phobias” and “Alien Invasion”. The Trunk-or-Treat spots are all set, but if you would like to volunteer and be a part of the fun, contact Special Events and Recreation manager Shelton Stanley, (614) 307-6543. Updates are posted on the Village of West Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department Facebook page. Our new K9 team, Officer Salem and Diego, are working hard on their training. You will start seeing them in action very soon. You can follow their training on the Village of West Jefferson, OH Facebook page or West Jefferson Police Department Facebook page. It is an election year, and here in our Village there are some really committed people and good ideas being shared. I hope everyone takes the time to ask questions and support the candidates that most closely align with your views. This is a great community, and I am always interested in hearing what residents have to say, and to help everyone understand a little better how the processes in a municipality work and what happens both legislatively and administratively. Enjoy the month!
