Although the weather says we are still in summer, September always means fall to me. School starts up, then we have our wonderful Ox Roast over Labor Day weekend, and Friday nights mean WJ football games. September is a fresh start, when everyone has an undefeated season, a perfect grade report and a new backpack for the first day of school. September is also a great time to look back at the summer to remember all the great times. This year the Village sponsored four Friday Night Uptowns, and those nights just get better and better, a fun community gathering place for our Village residents. The Westchester subdivision project was a huge inconvenience for residents during the construction, but boy is it a big improvement. The new sidewalks and paving on Smith, Lincoln, Gregg, and Grant are also a great improvement and update. We have now completely redone two of our parks, and they are truly beautiful, and great fun to use. The new signal at Taylor Blair has been a challenge, but it is fully up and running in time for school. We were able to restart the K9 program, another benefit to our police department and community, and you will be seeing Officer Omar Salem and K9 Diego out together soon. So much more goes on behind the scenes, keeping the infrastructure up to date, planning and processing, taking care of our responsibilities to you, our residents. I work with a great team, and they are also a big part of what makes West Jeff the Village it is.
