West Jefferson has long been a community that has adapted to change. Did you know that in about 1831 the community of Hampton actually moved their houses and barns a quarter mile on roller logs to be along the new National Road route? Those old houses and barns are no longer here, but the National Road is still our Main Street. The old blacksmith shop and wagon makers are gone as well, but we now have world class industries in our industrial park, serving modern needs. Time brings change.
Internally, the Village is modernizing programs and equipment. Externally, we are adding new housing. Our schools need additional students, and to continue to thrive, we need additional rooftops. Responsible residential growth will help our wonderful community continue to prosper.
