May Mayor's Message

I know it is a cliché, but the older I get, the faster time passes. This year is moving by quicker than ever; can you believe school is out at the end of the month? West Jeff High School graduation night, May 17, is also our first Friday Night Uptown for 2024. We talked to the school, and they like the idea of having a community event for all the visiting family and friends to attend after the ceremonies. So don’t worry about making a choice, you can attend both, and have a wonderful evening.

School ending brings the yearly caution to slow down in our neighborhoods, and watch out for the kids and dogs that may not see you. The WJ PD is offering to set up their electronic message board wherever residents think it may be needed as a reminder. New drivers will also be getting their first licenses, so parents, remind them and monitor them, and help keep everyone in our community safe.

I hope your summer plans include spending some time at our beautiful parks. This year we are starting a three-year renovation of Converse Park. We have applied for some grant funds to help us along with this park upgrade, and like our other parks, it will be another terrific project that will enhance the Village.

Several new businesses opened their doors in town recently, including Witt’s, Sudsational and Honey Pickers. Give them a try, and welcome them to our town.

Have a great month!
